Budget route to big adventures: Voge take aim at Honda CRF300 Rally with bargain single;

Chinese brand Voge have a new A2 licence-compliant single set to take on Honda’s £6449 CRF300 Rally in the low-capacity trailie market.

If you’re not familiar with Voge, they are subsidiary of Loncin – who have previously worked with brands like BMW.

Called the Rally 300, the new machine appeared at the 2022 Intermot trade show in Cologne and features a 292cc 4v single producing a claimed 28.2bhp at 9000rpm.

Around 1.2bhp more powerful than the Honda, the Loncin engine can also be found in the firm’s 300AC roadster and meets the latest Euro5 emissions regs.

The Rally weighs in at a claimed 158kg ready to ride, with a top speed of 77.8mph and features a seat height of 850mm which might be intimidating for some. That said, being powered by a single-cylinder motor allows the bike to remain narrow which should help those with a short inside leg.

What’s more, this tall riding perch does help create 280mm of ground clearance (40mm more than the latest Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally) and works with the 205mm of front suspension travel to tackle tough terrains.

The 41mm upside-down front forks slot either side of a large 21in front wheel, which couples up with an 18in rear for greater stability off-road. It also allows for the fitment of quality knobbly tyres.

Don’t expect any über clever off-road electronics to assist though, with Voge claiming ‘less is more’ when it comes to all terrain adventurers – opting for lighter, less powerful drivetrains and basic tech.

Providing stopping power are disc brakes at the front and rear, with switchable ABS for greater control in the dirt.

And the price? The 300 Rally will retail in Germany in a choice of two colours for €4229 (around £3682). Previous importer Lexmoto do not currently have a deal with the factory but the bike meets the regs so there is nothing to stop another firm stepping in.

Voge Rally 300 in detail:

Less is more: The Rally 300 fits that mantra with its 158kg wet weight and simple, switchable ABS setup.
Going clear: To help cover rough terrain without getting stuck, the Rally gets a claimed 280mm of ground clearance.
Competition: Rivals include the BMW G310GS, Sinnis Terrain 380, KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan and more.
All the gear: The water-cooled single engine is coupled to a six-speed gearbox. Expect 18.5lb.ft of torque at 6500rpm.
Rubber rings: 21in front and 18in rear dimensions should allow for a good choice of off-road rubber.
